Cammie's Blog Give Away

Hello!

I wanted to tell you about a great thing happening over at Cammie's blog.  She is doing a wonderful give away in honor of her grandmother who died a few years ago of complications resulting from Alzheimer's disease.  Cammie wants to build awareness of the disease and what goes into the caring of people with it.  One of the requirements of the contest is to make and send a card to a caregiver.  I work in a nursing home/ rehab center and have first hand experience of how difficult yet rewarding it can be to care for the elderly, no matter what their diagnosis may be.

I used the leaf print from the Signs of Autumn Stamptv kit.  I wanted to do an embossed resist technique with the stamping underneath it, but I didn't have a small print or background stamp, so I made my own background using one of the mum stamps from the Lean on Me set.  I stamped the mum in pumpkin all over the cardstock, then stamped the leaf in versamark and clear embossed.  Then I sponged over everything with caramel, then navy inks.  I wasn't sure how to fit on a sentiment, so I just put it on the inside of the card.  This sentiment is very appropriate!  Caregivers do make the world a better place!  So hop on over to Cammie's blog to get all the details, make a card, and send it out to a caregiver deserving of a great THANK YOU!

Thanks for visiting!

Challenging Colors

Hi!

I hope you are having a great Wednesday.  I'm happy knowing the week is half over!

Today's card is for this weeks color challenge at StampTv, to use pink, brown, teal, and orange.  What a challenge this was for me!  I was ok with any combination of 3 of those colors, but adding the fourth one was hard.  I was lucky to find this Dp from Basic GRey that had the colors in it, and I just went from there.

I used the new Lean on Me set from GinaK, with the rock and roll technique on the flowers, and outlined the leaves with a marker after stamping.
I'm sending this card to a young teen named Riley from our church, who has just underwent 2 back surgeries in the past week to correct a severe scoliosis.  Her parents have reported a rough time following the 1st surgery with a lot of pain and some fluid in the lungs, and I'm not sure yet how the 2nd surgery went.  Please keep her and her family in your prayers also.

Thanks for visiting!

RAK Challenge

Good Evening!

I hope everyone enjoyed their Labor Day Weekend.  Tonight's card is for a challenge over on STV.  I joined the RAK group that Melissa Schultz started over there, and she issued a challenge to make a "thinking of you"  card based on last week's challenges to send to someone else in the group.  I used the sketch challenge from Gina.

I used the new Lean on Me stamp set for the flower, and the Fancy Tags set for the sentiment.  The Dp is from Basic Grey.

Thanks for visiting!

New Toys!

Hello!

Yes!  My GinaK order arrived today with some of the stamp sets from the latest release, along with some extras like nesties, cardstock, and Dp.  So of course, I had to play right away.  For inspiration, I used this weeks color challenge over at Stamptv:  brown, ivory and yellow.

I used the new set Lean on Me ( which also comes with a card kit right now).  I stamped one of the mum images onto my lemon drop yellow cardstock with versamark and clear embossed.  Then I used my brayer to apply the brown ink right over top, and wiped with a paper towel.  I love the effect of this technique.  The sentiment was stamped in brown, then sponged over in yellow while the nesties die was still in place.  It is all layered on a kraft base, which I used my scor-pal to add some lines at the top and bottom.  Added some of that great stiched ribbon from GinaK, and it was done.

Thanks for visiting, and have a great evening!
